WE DEVELOP SKILLS TO REINVENT THE WORLD
We are in constant development, always attentive to the needs of each generation that enters our school. To this end, we constantly update our pedagogical proposal, keeping in mind the ideals of Blessed Luigi Biraghi, founder of the International Institute of the Sisters of Saint Marcellina: to care for the mind, body, and spirit of our students.
From Kindergarten through High School, we educate based on a social-interactionist approach – this means that we believe that learning occurs in relationship with others, through experience mediated by an adult. In our educational process, we want students to reflect on their education and act in society as agents of change, whether locally or globally. Above all, our main focus is the student – a person who thinks, feels, has desires, needs, expectations and challenges.
Early Childhood Education
CREATE, INVENT, AND DISCOVER
In early childhood, children develop social contact, broadening, through the school environment, their relations with others, with the world, and their learning experiences. At Santa Marcelina, we are dedicated to offering a safe and welcoming environment, so that the child feels encouraged to explore the world around him/her, elaborate his/her provisional theories and deepen his/her discoveries.
With this objective, we assure the rights to live together, play, participate, explore and express themselves through their multiple languages, knowing themselves as a cultural being.
For this reason, educators interact with children, observing what they do, how they do it, how they think, and what they think – only then to design the experiences to be lived. Respect for each person’s individuality and potential is very important in our children’s education, and we will not give that up.

PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITIES EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Everyday life
By taking a different look at the routine of the child at school, we allow the possibility of participation and relationship with the world. The day to day is filled with wonder as the subjects of this process express curiosity, ability to research, create alternatives, and implement changes.
Elementary School - Beginning Series
LEARNING TO LEARN
Here, we want to provide the best experience for the student in basic education and citizenship, promoting full mastery of reading, writing, and arithmetic, in addition to the strengthening of Christian attitudes and values.
We value family bonds, the bonds of human solidarity, and mutual tolerance, believing that these points sustain social life. For this reason, the child develops social and cognitive skills through theProject Learning Methodology, which enables the contextualization of the content from a transdisciplinary and collaborative perspective.

PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITIES
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
INITIAL SERIES
Santa Investigation
It is necessary to learn to ask more and more questions. As a school, we understand that active methodologies are necessary and that project-based learning is an incredible possibility for investigation and meaningful construction. From this, we started a journey grounded in project-based learning.
Elementary School - Final Series
BUILDING MEANINGFUL LEARNING
We understand that at this stage, students go through a period of important transformations – and we are dedicated to supporting our boys and girls in each of them. In the final years of elementary school, our students consolidate skills tocontinue learning throughout their lives.
We want each student, in addition to acquiring knowledge, to take ownership of values and position themselves critically when faced with life situations. To this end, we develop skills in the cognitive and socioemotional dimensions, which will serve as real tools for interpretation, judgment, action, and personal development.
In a world that demands active and creative people, capable of solving problems and acting in a critical way in an environment increasingly mediated by technology, the best choice is Santa Marcelina. After all, here, we prioritize the active and investigative role of the student, because we believe in education as a powerful resource for personal transformationand the full development of autonomy.

Citizenship Project
It is based on the competencies linked to smart cities: sustainability, health, culture, and technology. Groups of students align their proposals with NGOs, public institutions, friends and families. They act and invite to act in solidarity with those who are hungry, cold, unemployed, or isolated from education.
High school
CONSISTENT TRAINING FOR A POWERFUL ADULT
In yet another stage of education, we want to enable our students to make choices and respond to the challenges of today’s society. For this, in addition to the appropriation of content for the classic exams, our students engage in “hands-on” projects, experience entrepreneurial attitudes, develop the creative process, scientific investigations and carry out socio-cultural interventions, in a relationship of construction and reconstruction of learning.
We work for our students to be successful in exams and competitions, such as ENEM and the main vestibulares of the country. But beyond this selective stage of life, our comprehensive education prepares children and young people to be happy, confident, critical and responsible citizens, who act in society mobilizing Christian principles and valuesinternalized during their educational trajectory in the Santa Marcelina Education Network.
